Isabella Rossellini, The Second Woman of My Dreams

You just want to hold her and bask in her warmth.

You just want to hold her and bask in her warmth.

I first fell in love with Isabella Rossellini when I saw the 1989 movie “Cousins”. Never before had I seen such incredible beauty, heard such a soft voice, or been so swept away by the overall appearance of an actress on the big screen. I had no idea at that time that she was the daughter of legendary beauty Ingrid Bergman, but I should have… since I’ve always been smitten with Bergman as well.

A recent viewing of the movie again brought a tear to my eye just watching Miss Rossellini smile. There are very few women alive that can look so stunning, so innocent, and so sexy in the same instance. Someone could close their eyes and be lulled to sleep by the gentle tones of this angel’s voice. I dated a woman from Israel who had the same type of voice… I think I fell for her simply because of the way she spoke the word “water.” WAH-tuhr. Ahh, so cute. There’s just something about a powerful woman wrapped in such a soft package and Isabella is certainly that. Even in turning fifty in 2002, she’s still just as adorable as ever.

Having grown up watching old movies with my father, I guess one could say that my definition of beauty developed while watching the leading actresses of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Maureen O’Hara. Jean Arthur. Cyd Charisse. Ingrid Bergman. I even found myself saying “they don’t make women like they used to,” but I was wrong in that statement. Isabella Rossellini has captured and brought with her to our own time period the ethereal beauty, style, and grace of yesteryear.

Here’s to you, Isabella… you’ll forever be my second dream woman.
