The Last Laugh: What’s the Last Thing That Truly Cracked Me Up?

Laurel and Hardy on their way to a crying fit of laughter in 'Blotto'.

Growing up I created an edict that I’ve tried to follow my entire life – I wanted to make every person I came in contact with to laugh at least once because, in that moment, they’ve temporarily forgotten about anything and everything that was troubling them and are enjoying the moment. For the most part I’ve succeeded as, truth be told, it’s not that difficult. People want to laugh.

I’ve always enjoyed making my Mom laugh as she instantly starts to cry. During a particularly well-crafted funny story I can make her go through a dozen Kleenex. Now while I inherited this trait from her as well it takes a lot to really get me going…but once I’ve latched onto something that cracks me up, I’m an absolute mess.

I cry. I lose my breath. My stomach and sides ache. I can’t speak. Melissa has pointed out that I’ve even started to sound like an old man wheezing when my laughter trails off.

So I’ve decided to keep a running commentary of the last thing that has truly cracked me up. Now I’m not talking about something that made me giggle. Oh no, I’m talking about something that puts me in the fetal position begging for air due to laughing so hard.

And here they are…
